Follow Friday (#6)

This week's question:
If you are a fan of Science Fiction what is your favorite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

I LOVE Science fiction, but this question makes me realize that I actually haven't read too many Sci-Fi novels. Sure, I watch lots of Sci-Fi TV shows/movies... and read many fantasy novels that have a little bit of Science Fiction in them, but I haven't read many books that would be predominately classified as Sci-Fi (which means I'll be checking out everyone's answers for recommendations!).

However, I've recently read I Am Number Four, which I would consider Science Fiction, and I thought it was excellent - hopefully I'll also be seeing the movie later today with the boyfriend I've also had my eye on Unwind by Neal Shusterman for a while, so I finally ordered it (...will be part of IMM tomorrow) - has anyone read it yet? Have any other good Science Fiction recommendations for me?

Question: What is the book you are currently 'pushing'? (Pushing mean trying to get people to read it)
Rachel Vincent's Shifter Series!! <3

Question: "What are you reading now and why are you reading it?"
I'm currently reading Firelight by Sophie Jordan because I saw a positive review for it on Elodie's blog (Once Upon a Quote), and because I love shifters but have never read a book about dragons or dragon-shifters before.

Follow Friday Question: What is/was your favorite subject in school?
My Answer: My favorite class in school has always been my foreign language class (closely followed by math and science). In elementary/middle school I loved Spanish. In high school I was skeptical about having to take Russian [the only language offered], but wound up enjoying it as well. Now in college, I'm taking classes in Arabic and Italian - actually I'm majoring in Italian. I'm hoping that eventually I'll be able to speak some of these languages fluently, but sadly I'm not at that level yet.

Blogger Hop Question: "What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book?"
My Answer: Way tooo many!! City of Fallen Angels & The Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, Forever by Maggie Stiefvater, Blood Bound (tentative title) & If I Die & Chicks Kick Butt antho by Rachel Vincent.

Reasons Why: I love Rachel Vincent, so I basically devour every book she writes... If I Die is the next book in her Soul Screamers series and Blood Bound is the first book in her new adult series [I'm super excited!]. Cassandra Clare is also a fantastic author and I love both her series, and totally can't wait for those two installments. And I just recently finished Linger by Stiefvater, and loved it (review here), so I'm dying to see what happens next in Forever. As you may or may not have noticed, I am hooked on series books lol.

Question: Who do you cheer for?
My Answer: The New York Yankees, obviously! =P ...but as for football, I usually root for the NY Giants, although I don't watch too much football with the exception of the Superbowl (which I totally love! Partially because of the fact that I get to eat a LOT of food, hangout with good family friends, and be entertained by the hilarious commercials)

(P.S. if you visit my IMM#3 post, you'll notice I'm wearing my Yankee shirt from -I think- 1996 haha!)

Question: What makes up your non-human family??

My Answer: Three dogs: Honey, Bella, and Zoe. Here's a picture of all three of them crowding around me trying to steal my food!

Question: "Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"

My Answer: I love reading paranormal/ fantasy/ sci-fi books because they provide me with a total (& also much-needed, at times) escape from reality, and a chance to become a part of exciting new worlds.
