Movie Monday! #1

It's obvious that I love books, but I also love movies and music too! So when I saw a Music / Movie Monday post on Butterfly Feet Walking on Life's blog, I thought "hey, that's a cool idea! I wanna do a post like that too!" Every few weeks (most likely on a Monday, hence the title... we loveeee alliterations in our memes, don't we? lol) I'll post this, in which I'll rave (or rant) about some movies/CDs that I did or didn't like.

So here it is:

Title: Dogs Decoded
Genre: TV Documentary
Channel: PBS
Time: 53 minutes
Synopsis: "Dogs Decoded" reveals the science behind the remarkable bond between humans and their dogs and investigates new discoveries in genetics that are illuminating the origin of dogs—with surprising implications for the evolution of human culture. Other research is proving what dog lovers have suspected all along: Dogs have an uncanny ability to read and respond to human emotions. Humans, in turn, respond to dogs with the same hormone responsible for bonding mothers to their babies. How did this incredible relationship between humans and dogs come to be? And how can dogs, so closely related to fearsome wild wolves, behave so differently?

My Rating: 5 stars

I was fascinated by this documentary (I'm a dog-lover and a science geek so obviously I was in heaven with this one) -- come to think of it, I haven't ever watched a NOVA documentary that I didn't like. The documentary wasn't too long and they had some really great information. I'd definitely recommend for anyone who has and/or loves dogs =) Unfortunately, PBS doesn't have this available for online streaming, but it's available for instant streaming on Netflix (if you have Netflix, that is).

Title: Inception
Genre: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi Thrillers
Rated: PG-13
Time: 148 minutes
Synopsis: Nominated for two Golden Globes, this unnerving sci-fi thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb, who earns a tidy sum infiltrating the dreams of corporate titans to steal their most closely held secrets. Tapped by a rich industrialist (Ken Watanabe) for a job involving a rival's heir, Cobb marshals a team of specialists that includes his right-hand man (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), an architecture student (Ellen Page) and a chemist (Dileep Rao).

My Rating: 5 stars &  ♥ (favorite)

First off, can I just say the cast of this movie is incredibly hot?! Leo DiCaprio + Joseph Gordon-Levitt + Tom Hardy = *swoons*. Okay now for the serious part of the review: I thought this was one of the best movies I've seen in 2010. The graphic effects were fantastic and the plot was so exciting intriguing, and action-packed - totally had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Also, the whole concept of "extractors", people who can enter your dreams and steal information about your secrets, was  very original and cool. I would recommend this movie to anyone (especially people who love science-fiction). I'm even considering buying this on DVD, which is saying a lot because I'm not much of a DVD collector.
